Energy
WHY IT MATTERS
Buildings consume energy in the form of electricity, heating and cooling. Commercial buildings are responsible for approximately 14% of total energy consumption in Canada. Electricity used predominantly for lighting and electronics accounts for 18% nationally.[1] Since 2011 there has been overall decrease in electricity demand.[2]
WHAT WE ARE DOING
At Commerce Court, we continue to strive for greater energy efficiency and conservation. Regular energy audits and recommissioning projects enable the property management team to find new and existing efficiency measures, including opportunities to partner with tenants.

- Install LED lights to increase efficiency
- Set computers to ‘sleep’ mode when not in use during working hours, and shut off each to conserve electricity
